Vanderheyden Hall is Hiring a Behavioral Specialist Near Troy, NY

Assigned the responsibility to provide behavioral supports in the residential IRS programs. This includes the assessment of challenging behaviors and the development of behavior support plan/strategies. Assure all services meet stated objectives and comply with relevant standards. Implement on going monitoring for compliance and organizes data collection for evaluation.

Primary Duties & Essential Functions:

Develop, maintain and monitors behavioral supports for individuals in the IRA programs.
• Implement and maintain data collection for program evaluations.
• Provide timely services, training all individuals with respect and professionalism.
• Collect evaluation data to assess and monitor behavioral supports.
• Liaison with the treatment team to provide clinical direction regarding crisis and behavioral management of individuals.
• Liaison with external providers, including but not limited to psychiatrists, psychologists,
physicians, and counselors.
• Ensures staff members are informed and up to date about activities useful to the group.
• Oversee mental health/behavior.
• Trains and observes direct care staff around implementation of behavior modification plans and behavioral interventions
• Provides in-service training for staff.
• Participates in Human Rights Committee, Vacancy Management Committee and Incident
Review Committee as needed.
• Accompanies individuals to psychiatric appointments and communicates with psychiatrist regarding treatment progress on an as needed basis.
• Attends and actively participates in treatment team, Individualized Service Plan reviews, etc.

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:

• Master's degree in social work, Psychology, Applied Behavioral Analysis from an accredited program.
• Develop and maintain working knowledge of all OPWDD/regulatory standards
• 3 years' experience in related position.
• Must be about to complete behavior plans.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Experience working with developmentally disabled, dually diagnosed children adolescents preferred.

Abilities and Working Conditions:

• Must be available to work a 40-hour work week.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and run moderate periods of time.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to perform restraints and maintains SCIP certification.
• Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally population.

Pay: $58,500
